There Is a Challenge

Our ability to succeed in life is based largely on the preparations that we have made – how thoroughly we have trained our minds to fight and endure, in the most terrible times, and in the severest circumstances.

There are significant issues facing our world and our church; issues that have caused separation, pain, discouragement, animosity, fear and uncertainty. Therefore, the continued growth, vibrancy, strength and survival of our community will be determined by the willingness of our people to stand and “step up to the plate,” in spite of the music or the jeering of the crowds.

What happens to us, in the final analysis, will be determined by the stand that we are willing take here and now, and the fortitude with which we will fight to keep our hopes and dreams alive – in spite of the issues that are posing very daunting challenges to our progress.

From King Whitney Jr. comes the following quotation:

“Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.”

I am proposing a challenge today, for each person who will have an opportunity to read this article: I dare you to take a stand against whatever issue, attitude, problem, person or thing that is bent on pressing you down, or is bent on keeping you back from the points of victory that God has in store for you. Rise up, plough ahead and realize God’s dream – your dream!
